Tripping on Indian Creativity #4

Roughly speaking, dictionary dot com defines creativity as the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships or the like and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, and interpretations using the power of imagination.

At Engrave, we worship this ability to create and recreate in India day in and day out and have decided to pay tribute to the artisans and craftspeople that practice this by undertaking a fortnightly pilgrimage to six (6) of the most creative places in Indian arts and crafts on the internet and share our discoveries with you.

The idea of this trip is to introduce you to India’s best of what’s out there and inspire you to do the best you can to be more creative, for creativity is a quality the world can do with a lot more of. And on that note, welcome to this week’s six (6) most creative finds in arts and crafts in India on the internet.

1. Pencil Carving - Train

2. Pen Drawings

You won’t believe your eyes when you look at what Anikarthick has done with a pen, an A3 sheet of paper, and a whole lot of hard work. If you think of creativity as nothing more than something inspirational that strikes you out of the blue, these incredibly detailed drawings prove that the role hard work plays in the creative process is sorely underestimated. Fact is, it’s only when you combine an idea with spades of diligence that the fruits of creativity turn out truly sweet.

3. Cake in the form of a Paithani Saree with beautiful kolhapuri Jewellery

For instance, this one came to us from a lady in Kothrud (Maharashtra) who created this awesome Paithani sari and Kolhapuri jewellery in the form of a delicious cake! Yes, cake. You got to hand it to Tanvi Palshikar and her unique ability to transform virtually anything that can be seen into something so Cakilicious.

 

All who are maharashtrians out here definitely know what 'Paithani saree' and 'kolhapuri jewellery' is!Here is a cake...
